“Having Fun in Learning – Gamification”
E-book
THE EDUCATION PROCESS IS CONSTANTLY CHANGING. IT NEEDS TO DEVELOP THE KEY COMPETENCES OF LEARNERS BORN INTO AN ERA OF DIGITAL TOOLS. TRADITIONAL APPROACHES TO TEACHING – LEARNING – ASSESSMENT ARE CHANGING, DIGITAL TOOLS ARE DEVELOPING CLASSROOM ACTIVITY BY INTRODUCING DIGITAL MATERIALS THAT ARE DESIGNED FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF OUR LEARNERS.
Gamification, as an innovative method, focuses both students’ and teachers’ efforts in activities that keep students’ attention alive in the classroom for knowledge acquisition and skills development through active engagement in activities. Learning becomes engaging and thus students are motivated to participate interactively through the use of digital materials and OER resources embedded in the teaching activity as a complement to regular teaching. Pupils become active, cooperative participants in teamwork and teachers, from facilitators of already systematised information, become active partners of pupils and mediators of the learning process.
This e-book, Having Fun in Learning – Gamification / Experience Exchange. Guide of Good Practices, was published as the final product of the Erasmus KA210 project Having Fun in Learning – Gamification and contains lesson plans following a given template. The e-book was coordinated by the Orizont Oradea School Centre for Inclusive Education and includes lesson plans developed by teachers from Romania, Estonia, Hungary for mainstream and special education students from pre-school to high school level.
The experience and the desire for cooperation and sharing of teaching experiences inspired the birth of this best-practice guide on the gamification method.
